A friendship that began in 1969 eventually became a shared dream:
to make wine together, in a place of our own.
In 1969, two young people became friends.
Life took them in different directions,
but the friendship remained.
Decades passed. Families grew, careers changed,
and the world around them changed too.
But one idea stayed quietly alive between them:
one day, they would make wine together.
50 years of friendship. One dream finally made real.
In 2019, that old dream finally found its place in Ikalto.
We did not start this winery because we needed another business.
We started it because, after so many years of friendship,
there was still one thing we wanted to do together.
So we built a place where that dream could become real —
a place for wine, friendship, conversation and tradition.
Here, among the vineyards and ancient stones of Kakheti,
the land seems to move at its own pace.
This is a place where Georgian wine culture is not something
to be recreated — it is already here.
For us, Ikalto is more than an address.
It is where our old dream finally became real.
Our wine begins in the vineyard and continues beneath the earth,
in Georgian qvevri — the ancient clay vessels that have shaped
our winemaking culture for thousands of years.
We do not try to make wine louder than it needs to be.
We give the grapes, the clay and the time the space to do their work.
Wine, as it has always belonged here:
to the land, to the season, and to the people who make it.
Buried in the earth, following an ancient Georgian tradition.

and share it with people from Georgia and around the world.
After all these years, we are still making wine together.

Our winery is one of them.
It carries the patience of a long friendship,
the character of Ikalto,
and our belief that wine is best when it remains close
to the land and to the people who make it.
