WELCOME TO WINE TRAILS WINERY

Wine tasting Kakheti | Authentic Family Cellar in Ikalto

The Heart of Our Tradition: Wine Tasting in Kakheti

Welcome to our home — where every bottle tells a story.

At Wine Trails Georgia, we believe that wine is more than just a drink. Truly, it is the soul of our heritage. Our private family cellar is located in the historic village of Ikalto. This is a place where winemaking has been a way of life for centuries. Therefore, we invite you to experience the most authentic wine tasting Kakheti can provide.

When you visit us, you aren't just a tourist. Instead, you are a guest of our family. We open our doors to share the secrets of the Qvevri (ancestral clay vessels). Furthermore, you will enjoy the legendary warmth of Georgian hospitality firsthand.

Meet the Winemaker

Zaza Makharadze hosting a wine tasting Kakheti style

Driven by a lifelong passion, Zaza Makharadze personally oversees the production of our natural wines. Zaza is the founder of Wine Trails Georgia. He has years of experience in guiding international travelers. Consequently, Zaza ensures that every guest receives a personalized and educational experience during their wine tasting Kakheti journey.

The Authentic Qvevri Experience

Georgia is often called the "Cradle of Wine." In our cellar, we honor this 8,000-year-old tradition every day. Our wines are crafted using natural fermentation in Qvevris buried underground. This unique method is even recognized by UNESCO.

During your visit, you can expect a comprehensive look at our process:

  • Vineyard Walks: Stroll through our rows of Rkatsiteli and Saperavi grapes. Learn about our organic approach.
  • The Magic of Qvevri: See where the wine sleeps. We will show you how we bury, seal, and open these massive clay jars.
  • Professional Tastings: Sip on our limited-edition wines. These range from amber (orange) wines to deep, velvety reds.
  • Farm-to-Table Dining: Pair our wines with homemade Georgian bread (Shoti), local cheeses, and traditional dishes.

In addition to the wine, we offer a deep dive into the culture of the region. This makes our wine tasting Kakheti experience truly unique.
