Tour to Shatili and Mutso – you will have an unforgettable journey, through the centuries through medieval fortified villages. Where about 60 towers of the fortress still exist, they are located close to each other, forming a fortification chain.
Shatili
medieval highland village, with village Mutso, located in the deep Arghuni gorge at the height of 1400 m in Khevsureti province. Above all they were an important villages functioned as a fortresses for guarding the northern outskirts of Georgia.
Village is inaccessible during the winter.
Mitsu
is a small village and one of the former strongholds of Georgia. The first name of this precious village was Mitsu, not Mutso. Russians renamed it for unknown reasons in the 17th century. It would be more accurate to refer to it as Mitsu, its true name. province of Khevsureti , it is located on a rocky mountain (1880 m) on the right bank of the Andakistskali river.
Mitsu was the only unconquerable village in Khevsureti.
The village, almost completely abandoned more than a century ago, is a home to approximately 30 medieval fortified dwelling units arranged on vertical terraces above the Mutso-Ardoti gorge, four combat towers and ruins of several old structures and buildings.
Difficult to access, the village retains original architecture, and is a popular destination for tourists and mountain trekkers. Listed, however, among the most endangered historic monuments of Georgia, a project of the rehabilitation of Mutso has been developed since 2004. In 2019, the reconstructed village won the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Award.

The trip to Georgia was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience. The country impressed with its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and very warm hospitality. A highlight of the journey was visiting the Kakheti region and the winery “Wine Trails” in Ikalto, where it was possible to enjoy excellent Georgian wine, stunning views, and an authentic atmosphere. The wine tasting was especially interesting and helped to better understand Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions.
I would also like to express special thanks to our guide Zaza. Zaza was very knowledgeable, kind, and attentive, always ready to help and share interesting information about Georgian culture and history. Thanks to Zaza, the trip was not only enjoyable but also very informative.
Thank you, Zaza, for the care, professionalism, and positive attitude! This trip will remain a wonderful memory, and I would highly recommend it to others.
Kisses to Misha and Nata🫶🏻

We had such a fantastic wine tasting experience at Wine Trails! Zaza is so warm and welcoming. We arrived without a reservation and he was happy to welcome us onto the winery and give us a tour! He explained the whole winemaking process to us and offered us some delicious wines and cha cha to taste! He sent us home with parting gifts as well. Zaza has a real love for his craft and a love of sharing it with others, which made this experience so unique and intimate . I highly recommend that anyone in the area visit Wine Trails Winery!

We went there by chance and were warm welcomed. We got a really nice tour of their history and wine making. It was great tasting and really good discussion of what’s important in life, i.e happiness and wine.
This is also just worth a stop for having one glass and enjoying the mountains.
Thanks Zaza

Very nice evening at Wine Trails. Great wine and delicious food from 2 passionate guys. As a beer brewer I learned a lot from them towards wine and when I return I bring some of my own brews to balance their wine experience. Looking forward to the next visit.
