Pink Rkatsiteli

A pink variety of the Rkatsiteli grape

 

Location—Kakheti, widely planted around the towns of Akhmeta, Gurjaani, Telavi and Lagodekhi.

 

Discovered—In 1948 by V. Loladze as a bud variation of Rkatsiteli.

 

Production—High quality table wines, dry whites and pink dessert wines.

 

The Leaf—Larger than average, rounded or slightly oval, three or five-lobed. The underside of the leaf is covered in medium-length cobweb bristles.

 

The Bunch—Medium or large, conical or rarely cylindrical, winged, of medium density. The weight of the bunch is 240-350g.

 

The Grapes—Medium or large, oval, rarely rounded, pink.

 

The Skin—Medium thickness.

 

The Pulp—Fleshy and juicy, with a pleasantly harmonious taste.

 

Vegetation Period—155-165 days, fully mature towards the end of September.

 

Yield—7-12t per hectare.

 

Sugar—20-24%, acidity 6-7g/l.
